Swaroop hails from a family that has been largely involved trading of cotton yarn and their firm completed 100 years of trading in the year 2011. Keeping with the family business, Swaroop obtained a Diploma in Textile Technology (1994), topping his class in all the semesters. Later on, he completed his B.Sc Hons in Textiles from Bolton, England.
Swaroop has always had a craving to do something different; something for the society, and has been conducting his business without compromising on traditional human values. Swaroop’s interests in areas other than the family business, combined with his in-depth knowledge in the fields of banking and technology, have helped him foray into various businesses in the last 16-17 years.
In 1995, he started Design Garden, the first computer-aided-design studio equipped with Apple Macintosh systems and American software, for the handloom industries, at Karur in Tamil Nadu.
In 1996, he started and promoted a state-of-the-art cotton spinning mill near Karur in Tamil Nadu, and served as its Joint Managing Director along with having equity of 33% in the same.
In 2001, he was closely associated with the development of the Electronic Mantra Chanting machine for the first time in India that was launched at Bangalore, and worked as its chief Marketing associate.
In 2003, he was closely associated with the manufacture of imitation jewelry and traded in the same and continues to do so till date. He also conceived the idea of gold-plated and gem-studded tiles for interior cladding purposes, for the first time in the world, in 2005.
In 2008, he started Shri Cane Fresh Beverages, with the state-of-the-art technology and a business model suitable for both India and abroad. As promoter and Managing Director of the company, he has been using professional and eco-friendly processes and techniques in order to realize the company’s vision. He has also been instrumental in developing the fastest single-stage cane crushing machine, for the first time in the world.
In 2012, he will be launching a brand to create products that add to the ambience and grandeur, specifically for the interior industry, which will be done for the first time in the world.
Soumya Swaroop, Joint Managing Director
Soumya completed her B.A in Psychology in 1996, and thereafter studied Textile Designing in Bolton, England. She has been an active partner in all of Swaroop (her husband)’s enterprises and shares his vision of giving back to the society by being a part of innovative projects and ideas, as against merely conducting business for profit.
Some of the areas in which Soumya has contributed directly are:
- Building a network of stores to sell fashion jewelry that has provided an opportunity for several women to make a sustainable living
- Supporting and guiding Swaroop in all the areas of Workforce Management and HR
- Ideating, and taking decisions in the areas of HR, Customer Support, Sales and Marketing for several projects
Ramanathan Girish, Director - Strategic Planning
Girish is the Chairman and Managing Director of Bangalore-based Ishya Properties, a Real Estate company with a group sales turnover of INR 30 crores.
Girish who has completed his Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Madras, hails from a business family. The family concern 'Ramanathan and Son' was founded by his great grandfather nearly 100 years back, and has been involved in trading of construction materials.
Girish has taken the family business further by diversifying into Real Estate and Hospitality. The group manages Ishya Microtel, a hotel for business travelers in the heart of Bangalore, and is developing Highlands, a Premium residential project spread across 30 acres in the royal city of Mysore.
Girish is famous in social and business circles for his involvement in social and voluntary work. He has been Past Chairman of Round Table International - Asia Pacific region and Past President of Round Table India, in addition to being a member of Rotary Club Bangalore, 41 Club India and is also a Free Mason.
At Cane Fresh, Girish lends his businesss acumen and insights on taking the business pan-India, and international, along with standardizing various processes right from the cultivation of sugarcane upto the extraction of its juice.
